About This Project

State Civil was engaged by Leichhardt Council for the Asphalt and / or concrete Footpath Renewal & Associated Works upgrade to 19 streets in the Leichhardt LGA.

The redevelopment works involved the setting out of new design, demolition and excavation works of existing footbath, driveways, kerb and gutter roadway and associated roadworks.

For the mobilization of these works, State Civil employed sufficient traffic control measures and installed all construction signage, to ensure a safe working environment.

Once the site was mobilized, the scope of the work included:

  • Cutting the
  • Placing the kerb
  • Kerb Ramp
  • Concrete footpath & driveway
  • Stormwater drainage installation
  • Garden bed
  • Asphalt road

State Civil has so far completed nine of the projects’ scope requirements, on time and to the satisfaction of Leichhardt Council. All completed works have been inspected and approved by Council’s representative.

Innovations

For the stormwater component of the job, stormwater works are undertaken from subgrade depth, thus removing double handling of excavation and materials.

Issues and Strategies

As there are multiple locations, State Civil is using multiple crews in order to overlap works and complete the job in a quicker timeframe.

Additional Value for Money

Existing concrete was thicker than originally noted, State Civil removed this without issuing variation to Council.
